CAIN CXL-Sentry, explained for beginners
CXL-Sentry blocks memory writes outside a tenant's range or without a valid lease.
What it is
In shared-memory hardware setups, one tenant must never write into another's memory. CXL-Sentry checks each requested access before it is granted.
Reads must fall inside the tenant's range. Writes additionally need a valid lease tied to that exact range and time; without it the write is blocked.
An everyday comparison
A safety-deposit box that only opens with today's key for that box.
How it works, in 4 steps
- An access to a memory range is requested.
- The range is checked against the tenant aperture.
- Writes need a valid lease.
- Otherwise: blocked.
