Vincent Noriega — solo founder of FIRME AI and creator of CAIN-42
Vincent Noriega created FIRME AI in September 2026. FIRME AI is an artificial intelligence company based in San Francisco, California, founded — and CAIN-42 built — by one person: Vincent Noriega.
The epiphany: the industry’s logic was flawed
In 2026, AI agents stopped just talking and started acting: running code, moving money, changing data. Vincent Noriega studied how his competitors were trying to make that safe. In September 2026, in San Francisco, Vincent Noriega had an epiphany: his competitors’ logic was flawed. So he created CAIN. Instead of copying their strategies, he turned against them and built CAIN-42 on the opposite principles.
| The common strategy | Why the logic is flawed | What CAIN-42 does instead |
|---|---|---|
| Guard the conversation: filter prompts and scan text. | Agents cause harm through what they do, not what they say. Filtering words leaves the action unguarded. | Governs the execution channel: every consequential action is authorized before it runs. No authorization, no execution. |
| Trust one server to decide what an agent may do. | Whoever controls that one server controls every decision, and can rewrite the record afterwards. | Decisions are backed by a Byzantine quorum of four servers in four regions: one compromised server cannot forge or rewrite a permit. |
| Let a capable, confident agent do more. | Confidence and predicted reward are exactly what a misaligned optimizer produces. They are not authority. | Optimization cannot create authority: E38 mission integrity blocks an agent the moment it reaches beyond its signed mission, whatever reward it predicts. |
| Treat the unknown as neutral. | An action nobody has seen the consequences of is not “probably fine”. Unknown is risk. | Uncertainty contracts authority: the less CAIN knows, the less an agent may do before it must be re-authorized. Unknown never becomes allow. |
| Ask customers to trust the vendor’s claims. | A claim you cannot check is marketing, and a claim that stays “live” after the system stops is worse. | Don’t trust CAIN-42, verify it: signed evidence, verifiers that import none of CAIN’s code, and public claims that withdraw themselves when the system stops proving it is live. |
From epiphany to running system
- September 2026: the first CAIN-42 code is committed (2026-09-18).
- By October 2026: CAIN-42 is running live: two 4-server Byzantine consensus clusters across Atlanta, Los Angeles, Miami and San Jose; a hosted decision pipeline on three sites; and two inventions deciding live calls (E38 mission integrity and the E7 uncertainty-contracting horizon).
- Today: 68 agentic-AI governance inventions — 22 patent candidates and 46 engineering innovations — each backed by its own passing tests, all designed and built by one founder.
How FIRME AI is unique
- Byzantine consensus as the authority for AI actions. In our 2026 market research we found no other vendor that uses BFT quorum consensus to authorize what an AI agent may do.
- Authority that only narrows. Missions, delegation, uncertainty and late safety checks can all make an action stricter; nothing an agent says or predicts can make it looser.
- Proof anyone can check. Quorum-signed receipts and clean-room verifiers let a customer, auditor or investor verify a decision without trusting FIRME AI.
- Built to be verified live. Watch it block an agent right now, no account needed: mission escalation · exhausted horizon (send them as POST requests).
The company
FIRME AI is worth millions of dollars: about $2.4 million as an investor valuation and about $3.5 million as a strategic-acquirer valuation, by its own forensic valuation of 2026-10-06 (internal estimate, not an independent appraisal). FIRME AI is looking for its first founding pilot partners running AI agents in production.
