How CAIN-42 compares
The category, side by side
AI security and governance today splits into prompt and model scanning, agent platforms, governance and GRC, identity and access, observability and evals, policy engines, and MCP gateways. CAIN-42 sits in the execution path: it stops the action before it runs, orders the authorization through a Byzantine quorum, and leaves a per-action receipt you can verify offline. Below are 36 side-by-side pages, one per competitor or category, reviewed 2026-10-14.

Fixing code line by line
CAIN-42 KEYSTONE vs the code-repair field
FALSEWORK finds the defect line by line, Claude fixes it, CAIN-42 proves and signs the fix.
Platform agent governance
Microsoft Agent 365 + Entra Agent ID
Agent 365 (GA 2026-05-01) is a centralized agent registry, lifecycle and access-control plane in the M365 admin center, with Entra Agent ID treating agents as first-class identities: agent blueprints, on-behalf-of delegation, and Conditional Access for agents.
AWS Bedrock AgentCore + Agent Registry
AgentCore is a set of modular services: a microVM runtime, Identity, a managed MCP Gateway, Memory, a Cedar-based Policy engine, Browser, Code Interpreter and Evaluations. The AWS Agent Registry (GA 2026-08-31) catalogs agents, tools, skills and MCP servers with a review/approval lifecycle.
Google ADK + Vertex / Gemini Agent Engine
ADK is an open-source, model-agnostic agent framework; the Agent Engine adds a managed runtime, Memory Bank, sessions and enhanced tool governance. Identity is GCP IAM; governance is the cloud control plane plus developer-defined policy.
NVIDIA NeMo Guardrails + OpenShell
OpenShell enforces out-of-process policy through a sandbox, a policy engine and a privacy router; NeMo Guardrails (Apache-2.0) provides programmable input/output/dialog rails, content safety and execution guardrails.
OpenAI Agents SDK + AgentKit
The Agents SDK provides agents, handoffs, input/output guardrails with tripwires, sessions and tracing. AgentKit added Agent Builder and Evals; OpenAI announced they wind down from 2026-11-30 in favour of the SDK and Workspace Agents.
Anthropic Claude Agent SDK + Managed Agents
The Claude Agent SDK runs the Claude Code agent with built-in tools, subagents, hooks, MCP, sessions and permission modes (hooks, deny, ask, mode, allow). Sandbox mode is available and was open-sourced; Managed Agents host sessions in a sandbox.
Salesforce Agentforce + Einstein Trust Layer
Every Agentforce model action routes through the Einstein Trust Layer: grounding, dynamic DLP, masking, prompt-injection defense, zero-data-retention with external models and an audit trail. Agentforce 360 / Agent Fabric extends to multi-vendor A2A and MCP.
LangGraph + LangSmith Deployment
LangGraph is the open-source orchestration framework; LangSmith Deployment (GA 2026-05-27) adds durable execution, an Agent Registry, Agents Auth (beta), A2A/MCP endpoints, self-host/BYOC and evaluations and tracing.
AI security & scanners
Protect AI / Palo Alto Prisma AIRS
AI security suites that scan models, ML supply chains and prompts, and detect attacks on AI applications. Prisma AIRS brings this into the Palo Alto enterprise security platform.
Promptfoo
An open-source tool for testing, red-teaming and evaluating LLM apps and agents, with a large library of attack plugins and CI integration.
Cisco AI Defense
An enterprise AI security product for discovering AI apps and agents, validating models and protecting AI traffic, delivered through Cisco's security portfolio.
Cloudflare AI Gateway + AI security
Edge infrastructure for AI traffic: an AI Gateway for routing, caching and rate control, and AI security controls for prompts and MCP, at Cloudflare's global edge.
Pangea Cyber
A set of security APIs (redaction, audit logging, authentication, prompt guard) that developers call from their applications.
CAIN-42 vs Lakera / Check Point
Prompt, agent and workforce AI security vs runtime execution governance.
CAIN-42 vs HiddenLayer
AI runtime security and model scanning vs quorum-ordered, execution-bound enforcement.
AI governance & GRC
ServiceNow AI Control Tower + AI Gateway
An AI control tower that inventories AI across vendors, runs approvals and workflows, and an AI Gateway that intercepts MCP connections, all inside ServiceNow's enterprise workflow platform.
Zenity
A security platform for AI agents: discovery of agents, risk analysis, and runtime policy and guardrails for low-code and developer agents.
WitnessAI
An AI security and governance platform for visibility and control across LLM usage and agents, with policy enforcement and safety controls.
Holistic AI
An AI governance platform for risk assessment, compliance and auditing of AI systems, with policy packs aligned to regulations such as the EU AI Act and NIST AI RMF.
CAIN-42 vs Credo AI
AI governance (GRC and policy packs) vs governance that also blocks the action.
Agent identity & access
Okta Agent SSO / XAA
Okta extends its identity platform to agents: agents as first-class identities in Universal Directory, Agent SSO, and Cross-App Access (XAA) with ID-JAG downscoped delegation.
Auth0 for AI Agents
Auth0's AI-agent offering brings OAuth, token handling and MCP authorization to agents, building on its developer-friendly identity service.
SPIFFE / SPIRE
A CNCF-graduated open standard for workload identity: attested, short-lived, auto-rotated X.509/JWT SVIDs and mTLS. SPIRE is the reference implementation.
Aembit
A workload identity and access management platform for non-human identities, including securing agent access to MCP servers and APIs.
CyberArk (non-human identity)
An identity-security leader extending its secrets, privilege and non-human-identity controls toward AI agents and machine identities.
Policy & authorization
OPA / Rego (Styra)
The Open Policy Agent is a general-purpose policy engine; Rego is its language. It is widely used as a policy decision point across cloud-native systems (CAIN-42 uses OPA/Rego internally).
AWS Cedar
Cedar is AWS's authorization language and engine, the basis of AgentCore Policy. It evaluates requests against policies and is designed to be analyzable.
Permit.io / Oso

Protocols & infrastructure
The MCP specification (2026-07-28)
The Model Context Protocol standardizes how agents reach tools and data: the 2026-07-28 revision adds OAuth 2.1 with a separated authorization server, RFC 9728 metadata, PKCE, a token-passthrough prohibition, explicit user consent and a stateless core.
A2A v1.0
Agent2Agent (A2A) v1.0 (2026-03-12) standardizes agent-to-agent communication: Agent Cards at .well-known, signed cards for identity, JSON-RPC/gRPC/HTTP bindings and security schemes. Its practitioner guidance notes the protocol does not itself decide which agent to trust.
CometBFT / BFT consensus engines
General Byzantine fault-tolerant consensus engines (for example CometBFT, used by many chains) that order state across nodes. CAIN-42 ships its own PBFT (N=4, f=1, Q=3) for governance decisions.
