How it works

  1. Write. Text (up to 20,000 characters), a space, tags, an optional source and expiry. The tenant is the caller's identity; every read, search and delete filters on it.
  2. Screen. The text, every tag and the source go through CAIN's injection detector, also after Unicode tag characters are decoded and invisible format characters removed. A match stores the memory as quarantined with the family that matched. It is not rejected: rejecting would hide the attempt.
  3. Flag contradictions. A lexically similar memory with opposite negation is flagged for review, never resolved.
  4. Chain. Every write, release and forget appends a per-tenant SHA-256 entry; editing or truncating breaks it.
  5. Recall. Deterministic Okapi BM25 over active, unexpired memories. Quarantined text is never returned.
  6. Annotate. Every view and hit says grants_authority: false, authority_effect: "none", executable: false. Constant, not configurable.
