CAIN-42 CAIN StudioThe niche: verifiable vendor claims
This is not a product people buy on its own; it is why people believe every other product. It speaks to the most sceptical person in any deal: the buyer's security engineer, the auditor, the investor's technical advisor.
Why this niche exists now
- Buyers are tired of security vendors' marketing claims and "AI-powered" labels.
- Security questionnaires increasingly ask for evidence rather than statements.
- AI makes polished fake reports cheap, so checkable evidence is worth more.
- Most vendors' evidence can only be read with the vendor's own tools.
What people use today, and where it falls short
| What teams do today | Where it falls short |
|---|---|
| Trust the vendor's dashboard | The dashboard is the vendor's own code; it can show anything. |
| Third-party certification | Valuable, slow and expensive, and it covers process, not each record. |
| Screenshots and PDFs | Easy to fake and impossible to re-check. |
What makes Offline verifiers (NULLIUS) different
- Clean-room: the checkers import no CAIN code.
- Small enough to read in one sitting.
- Tested by attacking them: 2,319 single-field edits, with every accepted edit documented in advance.
- Free; anyone can run them.
How big is the opportunity?
Do not quote market-size statistics on a call. Most published figures are surveys or vendor estimates, and a smart buyer will ask for the source. Size the opportunity per prospect instead, with these questions:
- Who in your company has to sign off on a vendor's security claims?
- Have you ever been unable to verify a vendor's claim?
- Do your own customers ask you for evidence you cannot easily give?
If the honest answers are "no" or "not yet", they are not a buyer today. Note it and move on; that is good selling, not failure.
Explain the niche in 30 seconds
This is not a product people buy on its own; it is why people believe every other product. It speaks to the most sceptical person in any deal: the buyer's security engineer, the auditor, the investor's technical advisor.
NULLIUS lets anyone check our evidence on their own computer with tools that contain none of our code: the reason a sceptic can believe us.
Practise saying this out loud until you can do it without reading. Then say it in your own words.
Words your buyers use
These are the phrases people in this niche type into search engines and use in posts and job ads. Use them to find prospects (page 3) and to talk their language:
verify vendor claims independent verification security evidence trust but verify
Sell it together with
Buyers rarely have just one problem. When this product fits, these often fit too:
| Product | Why it goes together |
|---|---|
| Verify-yourself page | the browser version of "check us" |
| Quorum-QaaS (4-region PBFT) | receipts the verifiers check |
| cain_audit deliverables | every deliverable ships with a verifier |
Rule: open with one product. Mention a second only after the first is agreed.
